    Specimens were found on the upperside of dicotyledonous leaves of forest plants. Hosts are Hemiptera (scale insects). Stromata flattened convex, thick in the center, margin acute, very hard, brownish orange, surrounded with red brown ostioles, up to 10 mm in diam. and ca. 3.5 mm high. Perithecia completely embedded, flask-shaped, up to 525 μm long, Up to 300 μm wide. Asci cylindrical, slightly stout, 200-225 μm long (400-500 μm), 6-8 μm (8-10 μm) wide. Ascospores divide into part-spores, cylindrical with rounded ends, hyaline, 7.5-10 μm long (3-6 μm), 1.5-2 μm wide. (1.5 μm). The perithecia, asci and conidia of Thai specimens were smaller than those described by Petch, which are shown in parentheses (1921). In culture the colonies on PDA are slow-growing, attaining a diam. of 4-5 mm after 4 wk on PDA at 20°C. Colonies compact, pale orange mycelium. So far, this species is known from two sites in the south of Thailand at Chaloem Phrakiat Somdet Phra Thep Wildlife Sanctuary (Phru To Daeng) in Narathiwat province and Khao Nan National Park in Nakhon Si Thammarat. It has also been collected in the west at Thung Yai Naresuan Wildlife Sanctuary and Nam Nao National Park in the northeast. Moelleriella scutata were collected from Myrtaceae in Thailand but the type specimen of this species were collected from Myristica in Singapore.
